Are you in the market for a luxury motorhome or camper van for those weekends when Monaco seems a bit mundane? Get ready to speak to your Swiss bank account and buy the ultimate RV!
Camper vans, motorhomes and RVs have never been cheap. While many new vans can cost five-figure sums, there’s another league of motorhomes for the super-rich. Here’s our top five picks of what’s available from the luxury motorhome market…
It’s a bold move to put the name ‘Perfect’ on your motorhomes, but when it comes to the Vario Mobil Perfect, it’s probably justified.
The Perfect has a room for up to three slide-out compartments to increase the interior space as well as an internal garage space for you to bring your car with you. Other available luxuries with the Perfect include a dishwasher, generator, solar panels and air-con. That’s a better spec list than you’d find with a lot of houses…
Described by RS Motorhomes as their ‘midrange’ motorhome, the Elysian remains thoroughly luxurious. It offers accommodation for up to eight people and includes the likes of underfloor heating, leather upholstery, a full-size shower unit, a smart TV and a 142 litre fridge freezer within the fully-equipped kitchen.
The £249,000 price-tag covers what RS describe as a ‘base’ vehicle, but those with deeper pockets and more exacting tastes can add options including a Media Pack (featuring an extra TV and Satellite TV system) at £5000, an electric remote control awning at £2,400 or roof-mounted solar panels at £1650.
With prices starting at just under £90,000, the Carthago is the most affordable motorhome on our list. Despite its lower price, the Carthago doesn’t skimp on the spec. You’ll still find well-appointed corner kitchen, generous seating and even a coffee machine.
The Carthago has climate control and space for up to 170 litres of fresh water, meaning you won’t need to keep topping up after a long shower.
While it’s not big enough to swallow your sports car like the Vario Perfect, the Carthago motorhome does offer an optional scooter garage, so once you’ve set up camp you can switch from four wheels to two – perfect for when you need to nip to the shops for emergency bacon and eggs!
If you want that classic VW Camper van look but without the worries of age and rust, the Cambee Classic GT could be just the van for you.
Set up for longer trips, the GT has a 48 litre underslung water tank, 60 litre three-way refrigerator and a 240 volt hook-up. Cambee say that over 300 hours of work goes into ever GT built, with custom upholstery and a huge range of fabrics and trim available.
Optional extras include a diesel heater for those chilly nights, overhead lockers and underseat storage all to make the most of the van’s small footprint.
Built in Austria, this 45ft long behemoth, the Superior is perhaps the most luxurious RV in the world. Famous for its forward-facing ‘Sky Lounge’ that offers panoramic views of the RV’s surroundings, it also boasts an automatic walled-in roof deck that rises from the Superior’s roof, offering even more space.
Different temperature zones can be programmed through out the vehicle, while the master bedroom features a King size bed from the same company that provides beds to the British Royal Family.
The bedroom leads on top an adjoining spa area, complete with a glazed ‘rainfall shower’. How the other half live!
