A VW Beetle with just two-miles on the odometer will be on offer in the next Classic Car Auction sale alongside another time-warp Porsche 911.
This astonishing garage find, a right-hand drive 1979 VW 1303LS Beetle Karmann Cabriolet is offered by Classic Car Auctions (CCA) at No Reserve, but has a guide price of £10,000 – £12,000.
One can only wonder what happened 45 years ago when the car was purchased and then put away for a very long sleep?
Simon Langsdale who sourced the car for CCA says: “This is truly a once in a lifetime find. The car has literally been in storage all its life and has an incredible two miles on the odometer which we are told is correct.
“It has quite evidently been cossetted as it was covered in blankets in a sealed environment and has just recently been uncovered due to a bereavement. It is in effect a ‘new’ 1979 Karman Beetle, surely an unrepeatable opportunity. Supplied with its original handbook and service booklet, clearly with no stamps!”
The car is in Brazil Brown with an Oatmeal interior, matching roof and tonneau cover and was UK-supplied new by JEM Volkswagen of Walsall as one of the last RHD Karman Convertibles.
The second time warp car is a 911 project, UK-supplied, right-hand drive, matching numbers 911T ripe for restoration and again offered at No Reserve with a guide price of £15,000 – £20,000. It has been off the road for at least 35 years and also offered due to a bereavement.
Simon added: “Matching numbers, RHD, 2-litre, low-mileage 911Ts very rarely come to market so this could be a worthwhile project.”
The Porsche is a very early, right-hand drive, 2.0 litre A-Series car with the Sportomatic gearbox, finished in Bahama Yellow with a black interior and showing just 46,000 miles. Complete with its original handbook, service booklet and some other documents including tax discs.
Supplied originally to Scotland when new to a Mr Adrian Henderson as detailed on the Buff Logbook. The car has its original hub caps and original tool kit.
The Classic Car Auctions’ Autumn Sale takes place at the Warwickshire Events Centre, near Leamington Spa on Saturday 30th September. The auction will commence at 11:00am.
