The British Motor Show starts in a few days, and with so much to see it’s an event we know you’re going to love. Here’s a taste of what to expect…
There’s just a few days to go before the opening of the British Motor Show, being held from 19-22 August at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, and it’s an event we’re really excited about.
Our own Mike Brewer will be there, hosting The Live Arena where you’ll be able to enjoy parades of supercars and classic cars, Paul Swift’s stunt team, and lots more. Oh yes, and a game of celebrity car football at the end of each day. We’re quite looking forward to that last bit…
You’ll definitely want to visit The Live Stage, where you’ll find motoring fun and games with Fuzz Townshend and Tim Shaw from Car SOS, along with interviews with motoring experts and celebrities, including some famous sportsmen. Talking of sport, the displays from Motorsport UK are a must-see as you’ll find out all about the various disciplines and how to get involved.
Still with us? Good, because there’s there an awful lot more to see. The Tech Theatre will tell you all you need to know about the latest automotive technology, and if you head outside you’ll find the Caterham Pro-Drifting Team offering some very special rides. Perhaps that’s one to do before you have lunch…
As for classic cars, well there’s going to be plenty of those with owner’s clubs on hand to give advice if you’re ready to take the plunge into the world of older motors. But if you prefer modern supercars, there’s lots of those to admire, too. Whether it’s a McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini that tickles your fancy you’ll find them at the show. In fact, you might just be able to have a ride in one thanks to the Sporting Bears Dream Rides – they raise lots of money for charity so be sure to pay them a visit.
All the latest new cars will be on display as well so if you’re looking to treat yourself to a new motor you’ll be able to take a test drive, and even buy one. Prefer an electric car? No problem, because if you check out the Select Car Leasing Electric Motor Show you can see the latest models and get advice from the experts. But we’re not done with classics yet, as Retro-Electric will give you a chance to find out all about the current trend for converting old cars to electric ones. The show will be marking the global debut of the AC Cobra Series 1 Electric, too.
But the show isn’t just for adults. The young ones will be properly entertained, too, thanks to the Kid’s Zone, plus under-17s will be able to enjoy time behind the wheel with a 20-minute driving experience. Just don’t blame us if they start nagging you to buy them a car!
The event has been described as ‘a show like no other motor show ever seen’ and with everything in store they could just be right. The hardest bit might be fitting everything in…
