Charles Smalley who consigned the vehicle for CCA, says: “Fully retrimmed including a new roof canopy, the restoration was fully documented on the TV show and can still be seen on social media and You Tube. It’s an ideal little camper for historic events, shows and general fun and enjoyment, perhaps even as an Airbnb.”

Also up for auction is one of motor racing driver Jeff Uren’s ‘Commanche’ Capri conversions from its one and only owner, having covered just 36,946 miles from new. Guided at £50,000 – £60,000

Capri at CCA

This 1971 car is finished in Maize Yellow with a Black Vinyl interior and matching black Vinyl roof. It starred in The Car is the Star (BBC) in 1994 and has received regular magazine features over the years.

In the case of the Capri, the ‘Comanche’ conversion consisted of gas flowed heads, high comp pistons, bigger cam, lightened and balanced, re-jetted carburettor topped off with an oil cooler and electric fan giving an additional 55bhp over the standard Essex.

With three engine options -170, 180 and 190bhp – FYB 846K was the lucky receiver of the 190bhp package. Supplied by Whites of Taunton, main Ford Dealer to its one and only custodian from new and showing just 36,900 miles.

It comes with a great history file including many old MOTs and lots of correspondence about the conversion.

The camper and the Capri are just two of many great vehicles coming to Auction as CCA’s first sale of 2023 at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 24th – 26th March at the NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. All lots are available to view online where you can also register to bid in person, online or via commission.

If you have a classic that you are looking to sell, why not take the opportunity to sell your car with CCA in a LIVE auction at the show – a show which attracts an audience of 1000s of buyers.
