Letchworth Motor Auctions gets off to a strong start

Inaugural Classic, Retro and Performance car sale success.

Letchworth Motor Auctions, Hertfordshire’s largest independent motoring house, got off to a great start with its inaugural Classic, Retro and Performance Car Sale with a 68 per cent sale rate.

Auctioneer Jim Ronan hammered away 31 of the 47 vehicles on offer at Letchworth Motor Auctions last weekend for a total sale of £137,987, which dated from the 1940s to the ‘90s, with more deals being done once the sale had ended.

Managing Director Simon Morgan said: “Our first sale in this market was well received and we’re very pleased with the results. We had a good turnout, and the sale ran like clockwork as a result of excellent work by the team. We are already planning for our October sale and hope to attract more cars and buyers to the sale room.”

Highlights from the sale included a 1996 Rover Mini Cooper, imported from Japan with 80,911km on the clock. Despite its immaculate condition, its top estimate was £4,750 which was well exceeded with the hammer falling at £9,375 (including buyer’s premium).

A stunning 1980 Rolls Royce Corniche in Caribbean Aqua Blue, which had undergone over £25,000 of improvements by its previous owner including a full engine rebuild and fuel injection conversion, sold for £32,500.
