Silverstone Auctions holds its final sale of 2020, The NEC Classic Live Online Auction, from 13-14 November with an interesting offering of vehicles.
We’ve previously highlighted a mouth-watering selection of 1980s rally machines that are sure to tempt buyers, but with the sale catalogue now complete, we’re excited about some stunning road cars, too.
Fans of German classics are certainly well catered for, with some mouth-watering BMWs consigned to the auction. Amongst them is a 1992 E30 M3 that’s covered just 55,000 miles and carries an estimate of £55,000-65,000, or about a rare 2002 Z8? Estimated at £160,000-180,000 it’s only covered 30,000 miles.

Prefer something with motorsport focus? Then how about a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL ‘Batmobile Homage’ that was restored and built over a ten-year period by a BMW enthusiast, with help from Soper BMW in Lincoln. Based on a genuine 3.0 CSL, it’s estimated to fetch between £100,000 and £120,000.

If Porsches are more thing, there’s going to be plenty that might just tempt you to raid that savings account. Featuring a Clubsport aero kit and matching numbers, the left-hand drive 1996 993 Carrera RS is a French market example imported to the UK in 1999. A truly legendary Rennsport 911, the RS’s combination of light weight and 300hp flat-six engine makes for a very special driving experience.

There’s more 911s, including a pair of Targa models. The 1974 2.7 MFI mixes classic design cues with the 2.7-litre fuel-injected engine from the legendary RS, or maybe the 1989 Carrera SSE Targa is more your thing. With just the one owner, it’s covered just over 30,000 miles from new. We also like the look of the 1988 928 S4 that was previously recommissioned by specialists, Hexagon Classics, and wears a mere 10,323 miles on its odometer.

Not that the auction is all about German metal, as we’ve also got our eye on two very different but equally stunning cars. The 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series II presented in California Sage Metallic is one of just 350, and it’s had £30k spent on a mechanical overhaul. Our final pick is the 1985 Renault 5 GT Turbo 2 that was formerly a part of a collection – Alan Matthews was a true Renault and Alpine enthusiast, and this Pearl White example has covered less than 30,000 miles. We love it.
The auction contains 150 lots, and potential buyers will be able to view by prior appointment at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire from 29 October to 12 November. Happy bidding!
