The latest iteration of Bentley’s Continental GT is hugely impressive, but it also comes with a suitably hefty price tag. But whether you’re lucky enough to own one or not, there’s a cheaper way of getting a slice of that Bentley magic and that’s with these new scale models.
The smallest comes in 1:64 scale, is made from die-cast metal, and costs just £12. Buyers can choose to have theirs finished in Ice, Orange Flame or Sequin Blue. The next step up is the 1:43 scale version which is offered in Khamun with Beluga interior, or Storm Grey with Brunel and Linen interior. Moulded in resin, it comes with a presentation plinth and box and will set you back £85.
But surely the ultimate choice is the biggest on offer, the 1:8 scale resin-moulded model which is hand-assembled from more than 1000 individual components.
With assembly work overseen by the Bentley Design Studio, it measures 78cm in length, features opening doors and boot and takes around 300 hours to create. But the really impressive bit is the level of personalisation available.
If you want it to match the real thing sitting on your driveway then the good people at Bentley will oblige, but if you want something entirely different? Well, that’s possible, too, with an almost endless choice of exterior colours, plus you can take your pick when it comes to the colour and style of the interior veneers, carpets and seat trim (main and secondary hides, naturally). You can even decide to have the seats quilted or fluted, with a different colour for the stitching.
Actually, that’s not quite all as Bentley will also produce your model with your choice of alloy wheels, brake calipers, number plate and in right- or left-hand drive. Or you could choose the Blackline specification instead.
Now, just like the real thing all this doesn’t come cheap, of course. If you can’t resist the biggest and best model on offer then it’ll set you back a slightly gulp-inducing £6995. If you’re tempted then all of the models can be ordered from Bentley retailers or via shop.BentleyMotors.com
