Land Rover launches new Evoque and Discovery Sport models

New model variants and updated engines, including mild hybrids, amongst changes

Land Rover has announced a raft of updates for both its strong-selling Evoque, and for the Discovery Sport. Amongst the changes are new model variants and updated engines, including mild hybrids.

Starting with the Evoque the range gains a new flagship in the form of the Autobiography. Based on R- Dynamic HSE trim, external changes include black exterior finishes for the bumpers, lower trims and body sides along with burnished copper accents.

Intelligent Matrix LED headlights and 21-inch wheels painted in Gloss Light Silver are also standard. Inside, there’s quilted Windsor leather and Grey Ash veneer while equipment includes electric steering wheel adjustment, 14-way electrically adjustable and ventilated seats and a panoramic roof.

But perhaps the bigger news is the adoption of updated four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines. Available in 161bhp or 201bhp forms, both units offer mild-hybrid assistance thanks to a belt-integrated starter generator and 48-volt battery. Under WLTP testing claimed economy exceeds 40mpg with CO2 emissions from 169g/km.

For the 2021 model year all Evoques receive a number of upgrades, including Land Rover’s latest Pivi infotainment system and improved connectivity with Spotify integrated into the infotainment menu. The ability to receive over-the-air software updates also features for the first time, while driver assistance tech is boosted with a 3D surround camera and Rear Collision Monitors. Passengers will also benefit from a new Cabin Air Filtration system that promises even cleaner air inside the cabin and the ability to monitor air purity via the touchscreen. Prices for the revised Evoque start from £32,100.

The Discovery Sport also benefits from a wide range of improvements.  It’s now available with the same mild-hybrid diesel engines offered in the Evoque, along with the option of a new 286bhp Ingenium petrol engine. Paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox it’ll crack the 0-62mph sprint in 7.4 seconds. For the moment that petrol unit is available only in the new Discovery Sport Black that boasts a variety of exterior enhancements and extra kit.

Meanwhile, all Discovery Sport models benefit from the infotainment and tech updates applied to the smaller Evoque. And customers can also choose to have the cabin trimmed in sustainable, non-leather Luxtec material made from recycled polyester microfibre. The revised model is available to order now with prices starting from £31,915.
