TV Presenter and motoring journalist Jonny Smith is taking his popular Youtube show The Late Brake Show on Tour.
Highlighting that Touring isn’t just a BMW wagon, motoring enthusiast, journalist, TV presenter and walking car-encyclopaedia Jonny Smith, is taking ‘The Late Brake Show’ on the road.
This autumn, Jonny and his team will bring to life the high and low octane blend of his on-screen love for quirky classics, stunning custom-builds, ambitious projects, lost loves and future car technology. Everything and anything is welcome in Jonny’s head.
The central location of Market Harborough, Leicestershire, will welcome fans to an intimate, day-long Late Brake Show Tour #2 on 11 September 2021, with two further events scheduled for October and November.
Embracing the thought-provoking, curious and simply unexpected, the tour aims to represent the all-encompassing Late Brake car-munity. Fans of the YouTube channel will see, smell and touch (within reason) the eclectic (and electric) cars that have featured in the show’s films.
From ‘Barn Finds’ and ‘Projects of the People’ through to the very latest hyper cars and electric scooters that bookend the Late Brake spirit, a diverse range of cars will line up at Ash Tree Farm near Market Harborough, just three miles from the town’s renowned vehicle manufacturer: milk float builder, Harbilt.
The inaugural (and in many ways, trial) event in Kent on 7 August enabled fans to meet fellow enthusiasts who together fuel the Late Brake community and while there, see the slow progress on Jonny’s V6 Allegro SS sleeper; the family carrying capabilities of his Dodge Charger; his soon to be EV-transplanted Nissan Figaro (well, his wife’s!), and his relatively new imported Tokyo Taxi, among others.
An even more diverse range of cars will line up for Tour #2 from a Dutch supercar Spyker in ‘Car Caves’, a mid-restoration Alfa Corsa in ‘Barn Finds’, a plethora of new metal in ‘Launches’ (i.e. Citroen Ami, Fiat 500e, Mercedes AMG GT R Pro, Porsche 992 911), through to the some great EV restomods like the RBW MGB and the recently seen Citroen 2C-EV… to name but a few, and that’s before all the audience cars arrive to ‘show and shine’.
Jonny Smith says: “For anyone who’s a fan of the show, this is an opportunity to see the metal and rust in real life and be part of it. It’s a celebration of our diverse, inclusive community, united by our love of cars. We are taking the event around the country to enable as many open-minded people as possible to celebrate whatever you drive or drives you. Everyone and everything is welcome.”
The show’s famous ‘tatty’ brown leather chairs will make an appearance, with Jonny settling down for an ‘Idol Chat’ with a different special guest at each event, giving the audience the chance to ask those burning questions they have always wanted to. At Tour #2 in Market Harborough, TV presenter and infamous Wheeler Dealers mechanic, Edd China, will chat with Jonny and Richard ‘Sniff Petrol’ Porter.
Jonny Smith, best known as a presenter of Fifth Gear and Fully Charged, has been a motoring journalist and automotive TV presenter for over 20 years. Starting in magazines, then TV, and now the social world of YouTube, The Late Brake Show is an amalgamation and an embrace of all of these things, and, in Jonny’s opinion, offers something truly unique.
